Bewbush
A park was recorded at Bewbush as far back as 1295. It started as a manor and later became known as the Holmbush Estate, owned by the Clifton Brown family for most of the twentieth century until Crawley Borough Council bought around 300 acres of the land in 1973. The council began developing Bewbush as a new neighbourhood in 1974, adding a leisure centre in 1984 and a shopping parade the year after, with building work continuing through the 1990s. Today Bewbush sits in the west of Crawley, a largely residential neighbourhood within easy reach of both the town centre and Gatwick Airport.
